There are a lot of simple things that we can do to lead healthier lifestyles. Below are four basic steps that will put you on the path to better health:
Eat healthily. This means consuming plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and limiting processed foods, saturated fats, and sugar.
Be active. Get at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. This can include walking, biking, swimming, or any other activity that increases your heart rate and makes you sweat a little.
Don’t smoke. If you don’t smoke, don’t start; if you do smoke, quit as soon as possible.
See your doctor regularly. Schedule an appointment yearly for a physical exam, and more often, if you have a chronic health condition like diabetes or high blood pressure.
